Development Status

The Crane Resort and Residences, known as an idyllic hideaway on the spectacular Southeast Coast since 1887, is continuing its multi-million dollar development and expansion. The 40 acre property upon total completion will feature rooms and suites, flood lit tennis courts, 5 world class restaurants, a full service spa nestled in a lush coconut grove and “The Crane Village” which will offer a choice of gourmet and casual restaurants.

Special Note: to take advantage of the discounted rates now being offered during this construction phase, please contact reservations and make your booking today! The ocean view categories- “A rooms”- do not have any views of construction, but some Junior Suites- “B rooms”- overlook the construction from a distance. Inquire about special rates on rooms from which the development site is visible.

COMPLETED TO DATE: To date, The Crane’s development project has resulted in:

The addition of 174 luxury residence units
The unveiling of a spectacular 1.5 acre multi-cascading pool complex
The complete refurbishment of the original 1887 resort- Marine Villa
The opening of the acclaimed Zen- featuring classic Thai and Japanese cuisine
The restoration of the historic Pavilion Room- now available for wedding receptions and group functions
Building 8- a 28 - room building offering one, two and three bedroom residential suites. With this addition the resort now features a total of 202 rooms and suites, many with private plunge pools
The highly anticipated beach elevator is now complete and operational

IN PROGRESS: Currently underway are:

The Crane Village- In many areas the Village is already up to the second story and is starting to look more complete. The roofs have been put in place on most structures, and painting of the exteriors has begun. On completion in late 2008, this area will include a new Italian restaurant, a coffee shop with bakery, retail shops, a jazz bar, fitness centre, new concierge and reception and a conference centre

Park Residences- an area of wholly-owned 1 & 2 bedroom condominiums. The estimated completion date is 2009. The construction area for this facility will be visible upon arrival to property.

The Crane Tennis Courts- The area for the future Tennis Courts is now being excavated on the northern side of the property. The estimated completion date is June 2008. There is no noise or visual disturbance from the expansion in this area as it is located away from guest rooms. At completion there will be two hard courts, lighted for night play.

Please note that we have also set up a temporary reception facility at the resort to facilitate your arrival.

Kindly pardon any inconvenience as we work to make your Crane experience a more memorable and enjoyable one. The construction schedule is approximately 8:00am – 5:30pm and there will be an intermittent noise factor. Please note however, that public areas such as the beach, new pool complex and restaurants are not affected.
